Roberta Charlene (Green) Ingram, 84, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2017. Her family will host a Celebration of Life on a date yet to be determined.
Known as” Bert” by all who knew her, she was born in Indianapolis on September 5, 1932. She married Paul Ingram Sr and they raised their three children in Beech Grove. She enjoyed bowling and ballroom dancing but her favorite pastime was simply spending time with her family. In recent years, she enjoyed weekly dinners with her sister, Ruth, sister-in-law Eva Green, nieces Phyllis Kindle and Lois Neuert, friend Marie Huser and daughter, Geneva.
She had worked over the years at Mallory, Western Electric, Telonics and several southside physicians’ groups in various capacities. Her favorite role was working in medical offices where she greeted each patient with her contagious smile. She truly never met a stranger, and was considered a “second Mom” to many.
She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years Paul Ingram Sr and her parents, Herbert and Mary (Callis) Green; brother Herbert Jr, and sisters Christine (Neuert), Opal (Curtis), Mary (Kindle), Phyllis (Zimmerman), and Shirley (Phelps). Left to cherish her memory are her children, daughter Geneva Brenton (David) of Mooresville; son, Paul Jr (Ginny) of Beech Grove; daughter Delcie Shipman (John) of Fort Worth, TX; granddaughter Emily Frye (Dustin); grandson Michael (Megan); great-granddaughters Hayden and Haylie, all of Beech Grove; granddaughter Stefanie of Martinsville and beloved sister Ruth Falconbury of Greenwood.
A special thank you to the staff at Beech Grove Meadows for providing loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, Oct. 15, from 2:00-4:00 pm at the MCL banquet room (3630 S. East St)”

I will never forget seeing her smiling face when visiting doctors. She gave a me shot one too many times. She didn’t get to see the best side of me. Lol. She was also a Greta friend to my mother.
Jeff Moran says
Delcie – although I didn’t really know your mother, I want to extend my sympathies as an old school friend and fellow alumni of BGHS. If I remember correctly, you all lived on the corner of the same street (N. 12th) in Beech Grove that our family did too. And now we have a mutual friend in Lark Reuthe. Thoughts and prayers for you and your family.
Debbie Lewis says
Your mom was the best. I loved her contagious smile. I always remember her by Bert. When I went to the Doctors she was so good to all her patients. I am so sorry for your loss and your family has been in my thoughts and prayers.
